Lone Trees
Coming from the east, where trees are everywhere, I was immediately excited by the lone trees populating Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. The photos in this portfolio are all in panoramic format. Many of the photos here were made with a large-format camera on 4x10 negatives. Others ... and they're easy to identify ... are stitched from several to many digital photographs taken specifically to be stitched into large panoramas. Several of the images are more than 100 inches wide (their native size). Enlargements of the files made from negatives can easily be to six feet and more! The panoramas from the stitched files range in size up to more than 100 inches, and that's their native size at 300 dpi, so they can be enlarged even more for massive panoramic photographs. For years, I used large format cameras ... 8x10 inches, 5x7 inches. Finally, though, my body rebelled, and it got more and more difficult to carry the 65-pound pack and 13-pound tripod. I read about how digital is now large format and how stitching makes that possible. That's my way of doing large format now. I hope you enjoy this work.
