Leaning Pine at Twin Lakes
I first photographed this tree more than 15 years ago. With a view camera and 4"x10" film! I remember it well because I'd set up my tripod and camera and was so focused on getting the photo that I didn't realize I was standing smack dab on top of a red ant hill! I didn't realize it, that is, until I'd made the photo and wondered what the hell was crawling all over me. I had to strip down and shake all my clothes to get the ants off! Whew! This photo was in late winter. It's on one of the two Twin Lakes at the east end of Independence Pass road...Rte. 82. I've photographed it many times and this is one of my favorites...with a late winter storm approaching. And no ants! Elbert and Mammoth are in the background...their tops in the clouds.
