Windblown

This is another of my favorite Lone Trees. Nice rolling pasture. Mountains back and often a wonderful sky. I learned, long after my love affair started with this scene, that the snow-capped mountain in the background is Pikes Peak. From what I call the back side. It's between Woodland Park and Florissant.

Pikes Peak from Garden of the Gods

I made this photo from the Garden of the Gods visitor center. You can see the large sandstone and limestone rock formations that the Garden of the Gods is so famous for. But Pikes Peak stands out well, too. It's a great place to make photographs!

This pine tree is one from my Lone Tree series. I have photographed it many times. The sky was outstanding. The snow fresh on Pikes Peak. I had to make this photo.

Wilkerson Pass

Wilkerson Pass is about 50 miles west of Colorado Springs. It is surrounded by peaks over 14,000 feet, with Pikes Peak to the east and the Collegiate Peaks of the Sawatch Range to the west. I rode to the point where I made this panorama on my motorcycle. You can see in the very distance the 14-ers. I made this pan handheld. I can't wait to go back to redo this with a tripod and longer lens! It will be spectacular. I do like this one though.

The Garden of the Gods is a park in Colorado Springs worthy of its name. I made this photo from a high point across the road from and just outside the park entrance. And from there, you can see Pikes Peak just peeking over the foothills. The foreground contains beautiful sandstone and limestone features that are breathtaking.

Driving "the back way" to Colorado Springs, you get this amazing view of the 14-er I learned when I was in grade school was the highest in the country. It's just 14,210, so there are a bunch higher.
